COVID-19 Update: March 26, 2020

Today's technically the 27th now, but since it's, like, 12 am in the morning, I'm gonna write about how it was on the 26th. So Taiwan had 17 more cases, 15 from overseas, 2 were cases inside of the country. My mom says that it adds up to 252 cases as of today. So does anyone remember from my last post that I said there were 215 cases on the 24th? Here's a little reminder. Not much has changed (at least, not dramatically) since the past few days. The numbers inch up little by little, and it's not something that I like. But it's better than having hundreds popping up, so yeah. Oh, and I think I had written something about a man on the loose on the last post. Well, here's an update. The government caught him four days after he went missing. Turned out he was at an Internet café that was on the street that is mostly populated by cram schools. I was lucky that I had stopped going to cram school entirely since I got wind of the virus in late January, but I'm s

COVID-19 Update: March 24, 2020

It's already been two months since the first cases of the coronavirus popped up here in Taiwan. It's already been two months since I started worrying about the virus. It's already been two months since it was the talk of everybody here in Taiwan. It's already been two months, and I'm so tired of it, and I feel so numb. I check the numbers daily, but it feels as if they won't ever stop rising. The world is spiraling into chaos. Countries are now shutting down borders, and it feels like hope is so far away. Just right about a couple of days ago, we only had around 59 or so cases. Today, it's 215. It's almost quadrupled in a week. Last week, there was an anonymous high school (Though we all knew which one it was. High school gossip spreads faster than wildfire. I only wish it was faster than the virus) which had the first case of a high school student. The class had to self-isolate for 14 days. It was the rule, for the whole class to isolate themselves if

Burnt Bread

"I have a solution." "Thank goodness." "It involves fire." "Absolutely not." "But come on," Marcus tapped on Hesperia's shoulder again, "It's the only way for me to get that loaf of freshly baked bread." The girl glanced up. "And what's in it for me?" "I'll snag you a couple of grapes if you want," the boy offered, " I'll also throw in a book." "I think I'll pass on the grapes..." The boy frowned visibly, but Hesperia went on. "But what I do want is the book that you promised," her eyes sparkled with mischief, " Tell me what your plan is." - Hesperia kept her hood pulled low and her cloak tight against her body as she strolled past the villa Marcus had decided to loot from. "Oh, gods." The villa was as large and majestic as Marcus had described from the day before. Hesperia only hoped t
